H55, a Swiss company that emerged from the Solar Impulse project, is embarking on an extensive cross-country tour to showcase the Bristell B23 Energic. This two-seater, with a H55 electric engine is the first of its kind to receive certification under Part 23 regulations.
From April to August 2025, the company will make stops at key aviation events and hubs across the United States, including the SUN’n FUN event in Florida and EAA AirVenture in Wisconsin. Throughout this tour, H55 will offer live demonstrations of the B23 Energic, providing guests with the chance to experience electric flight firsthand.
According to André Borschberg, H55’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, the company is continuing the work it started with Solar Impulse, having completed the first U.S. cross-country flight in 2016 as part of a global journey. “Now, we’re bringing electric flight into a commercial setting, not with a prototype, but with an aircraft ready for delivery,” he said. "The B23 Energic is poised to play a key role in pilot training and general aviation.”
The B23 Energic is designed with flight schools, aero clubs, military academies, and private pilots in mind. Powered by H55’s certified electric propulsion and battery technology, the aircraft promises to reduce operating costs while offering a quieter and more efficient alternative to traditional combustion-powered planes. This aligns with the growing shift toward more sustainable aviation practices.
Martin Larose, CEO of H55, explained that the company is not only focused on producing propulsion systems but is also developing an integrated ecosystem that includes energy storage, performance optimization, and certification support. While the company’s initial focus has been on general aviation, H55 is now expanding its reach, with applications in regional air mobility and commercial aviation.
As part of this expansion, H55 is progressing toward key certification milestones. By mid-2025, the company expects to complete battery certification, followed by full electric propulsion system approval. With U.S. and Canadian certifications anticipated soon after.
The tour will stop in multiple states, including California, Florida, Texas, Colorado, and Wisconsin. Each stop will feature live test flights, in-depth demonstrations of H55’s electric propulsion systems, and discussions with aviation professionals about the future of sustainable flight.
The tour will highlight the performance of the B23 Energic, with live demos and test flights where attendees can get behind the controls and evaluate the aircraft in real-world conditions. Additionally, H55 will showcase its advanced electric propulsion and battery systems, emphasizing key factors like safety, reliability, and scalability.
The tour is aimed at a broad audience within the aviation sector, including flight schools, aero clubs, military service academies, airport operators, maintenance and repair organizations, fixed-base operators, and aerospace universities. Aviation enthusiasts with an interest in the future of flight are also invited to attend.
The tour schedule includes stops in various cities across the United States throughout the spring and summer:
- April – Florida
- May – Alabama and Arizona
- June – Nevada and California
- July – Colorado and Wisconsin
- August – New York
